The stained-glass Christ Crucified in our sanctuary uses transparent glass for His body. I thought it may have been on purpose, but it seems from older pictures and certain times of day that the peachy color has faded. (Which, incidentally, is not a thing stained glass should do. You say faulty construction, I say providence.) I love this idea, that Christ is green with the trees outside or white with a passing friar or sort of yellow in early morning or sort of purple in the late evening. That we see what Christ is willing to give himself up for in his very body. That the liturgy does not stop in the church but goes out to all the world.
The parish is building a new church. I hope this stays.
